Four Brutal Crimes in the Capital. "What Kind of Man Should You Be?!"
Mrs. Monika found her mother-in-law's body on February 23 in an apartment in the Rakowiec housing estate. The elderly lady had not been answering her phone for some time, so her daughter-in-law decided to check if she was okay.
– When I entered the apartment, my mother-in-law was already dead. She was lying on the floor, and everything was turned over and ransacked. I immediately called the police. I touched her, her body was cold. She was not breathing. It was too late to save her – said Ms. Monika in an interview with " Onet ".
The 89-year-old lived on the ground floor, which could have made it easier to access her apartment. Unofficially, it is said that she was strangled. The woman's neighbor, Mr. Mirosław, admitted to "Onet" that he did not hear any suspicious sounds.
- I heard from the neighbors that in recent days some suspicious people were hanging around here, looking through the windows. Mrs. Helena often did not cover the blinds, so it was easy to see what she had in the apartment. They say that the paintings that hung on the walls disappeared, but they were probably not valuable works - said the neighbor of the deceased.
He also added that the woman was open and trusting towards people.
– It is possible that this was her undoing. She probably let her tormentors in herself, because there were no signs of a break-in – he stressed in an interview with the portal.
He killed for paintings? More victimsOn February 16, the body of an 80-year-old woman was found on Franciszkańska Street. She had been strangled, and there were signs of a struggle on her body. Paintings were also missing from the apartment.
The next victim was a 73-year-old woman from Ursynów. Her body was discovered on February 25. In this case, the perpetrator forced the senior citizen to call the bank and change access to her account. When the bank employee realized something was wrong, he immediately notified the police. Unfortunately, it was too late – the woman was dead.
Soon, there were reports that the list of victims could be longer. The police are also investigating the fourth murder, which took place on Pruszkowska Street in Ochota. An elderly woman was also murdered there, and the main motive for the crime was robbery.
Breakthrough in the case. Suspects arrestedThe case of brutal murders has shaken the whole of Warsaw. The police have set themselves the goal of catching the perpetrators as soon as possible. After the last murder in Ursynów, there was a breakthrough.
The police quickly received a signal from the bank and on the spot, officers forcibly entered the apartment. They noticed a man on the balcony trying to escape. He was detained. A woman's body was found in the apartment.
It turned out to be a 43-year-old Pole who did not act alone. Shortly afterwards, officers entered an apartment in Warsaw's Bródno district and forcibly detained a 33-year-old Ukrainian citizen .
"Two Modern Raskolnikovs"On Wednesday, February 26, at a press conference, the prosecutor's office revealed the first findings of the investigation.
- We are dealing with a case of two modern Raskolnikovs. We are dealing with murders of old women committed as a result of motivation known from Fyodor Dostoyevsky's novel. There are crimes, there will be punishment - said prosecutor Piotr Antoni Skiba.
As reported, both detained men have been charged. The 43-year-old Pole is suspected of five crimes, including aggravated murder in connection with committing a robbery. At the time of his detention, he was under the influence of narcotics.
